SOLD!! is a Philips 926 cd changer that is modified by Don Allen. This is an extremely rare opportunity as you do not frequently see these units for sale on the used market. Don Allen has an outstanding reputation for his SET amp designs and his modification of the Philips 5 disc CD changer is no exception. Don takes the Philips 926 CD changer and modifies the unit as well as installs a tube output stage that accepts several types of 9 pin tubes. The unit can use 6dt8, 6bk7b, 6bz7, 6bq7a, 6bs8, possibly more, and these tubes are inexpensive making tube rolling a breeze. The player is less than a year old and the previous owner had the latest upgrades done by Don himself in January of this year. If you are not familiar with this product go to the Audioasylum website and search under Don Allen. They are reviewers that preferred it over $5k players. Comes with the original box, owners manual for the stock Philips changer, remote control, headphone jack, remote control adjustable volume, and the four tubes that were sent with the unit by Don himself (the player only uses one tube in the output stage). Don's work is very highly regarded and praised, particularly among the SET amp crowd. There are many who feel this is the best value of a CD player that you can find under $1K.
