Bill,

Hard to beat deal from Parts Express on exactly what you're looking for.  I've bought a couple sets in the past - they are great value for only $5 each (with floor protectors)

I was hoping to sqeeze by under 50$.
I have the PE spikes on my magnastands, and they are fine.
The thread size is not important to me, I can get solid inserts and thread them any pitch I want.
Call me a lazy machinist and I'll be forced to make my own points...

Michael Percy sell inexpensive spikes... http://www.percyaudio.com/Catalog.pdf , bottom of p. 18.  $7.50 or $5 per quad is LOTS less expensive than $20 or $25.  Of course, Michael's aren't attractive, so if they'll be visible...

Here is the larger one.

Percy's vacationing until 25 June, but if you're in a hurry I'll sell you my 2 full sets* (= 8 spikes), opened but never used.  E-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net if you're interested.

* Includes the spike, insert, jamnut, and plastic protector.

fyi Bill - I have my 35 lb speakers sitting on brass screws (with brass 'leveling' nuts).  Total cost for two sets was about $8 - bought right down the street from my local hardware store.  I had my subwoofer, when I owned one, on them , too.

They don't terminate in a nice neat pinpoint....but they are on light carpet and considerably stable versus them right on the floor (once perfectly leveled).  They are also lifted about 3/4" up off the floor....a large part of the benefit of any 'point' is that they are lifted off the floor in the first place.  The pinpoint is probably additionally beneficial...how much additional benefit is largely open to experience and interpretation.

Dang cheap, and they work fine indeed  :thumb:

EDIT: oops - missed your post - the points you bought probably are better, tho  :)
