Bryston 1B

Hi guys, I have a question concerning the phono section of the 1B. I can't get any sound out of phono 1 and the level of phono 2 is very low. When I play the table through an additional gain stage the phono plays fine. I am using a shure MM cartrige that plays fine through any other phono stage. Any help would be great.

BTW I love the huge soundstage the 1B throws up, its very natural sounding. Are there any other fans of the 1B out there?

Finally I should add that the service at Bryston is fantastic!!! I spoke to a guy named Cam that was fantastic.

Marc,

The phono stage in the 1B is the same for both 1 & 2.  I used to use a couple of different MM cartridges through the phono stages, and both volumes were the same.  It seems a trip to Bryston's service department is in order (unfortunately).

But I do agree on the soundstage this preamp throws out; with dynamics too!

Thanks Gary,

I will let a friend have a quick look at it, and if its not something obvious, I will send it the Bryston.
