Man I envy you. That's one killer line up .

Be sure to check out Tea Leaf Green. They're an amazing up and coming Jam band.

Went last year (see my review, etc.) and had a blast.  We promised ourselves we'd go again, but work is in the way right now.  Radiohead, Beck, Elvis Costello, Bright Eyes, Tom Petty, etc were quite the memories.  Enjoy!!!!

Ornette Coleman, too :o. Jeez. Don't know how I missed that one. That's the cherry on top

And one of the few remaining Cheese concerts, Ratdog, even Hot Tuna on the "Other Stage". While I haven't seen Tea Leaf yet, the sound quality of the audience recordings of their shows on the InternetArchive is amazing, in addition to the great music. I'm hoping to make it to 10,000 lakes, the more intimate environment has a much greater WAF.

Enjoy, should be awesome!

The schedule is wacky this year, though.  For instance, Wilco is an afternoon perfromance, and coincides with Ornette's tent performance.

String Cheese is calling it quits????     I know they've really fallen out of favor with the large scale crowds, that's a shame though if they are heading into other ventures.

years ago i saw them the 1st time at Mississippie Nights in St. louis.   that tour they literally were driving a school bus that had ski pole holds on the side...

back in the day they were one of my favs...then again so was Phish.

After summer 2007, Billy Nershi is leaving The String Cheese Incident to pursue other musical projects. There will be only a limited number of Incidents between now and then.  Current plans include Thanksgiving in Atlanta, a New Years Eve blowout in San Francisco, Winter Carnival in Colorado, and a return to Red Rocks. Presently, there are no plans for The String Cheese Incident beyond summer of 2007.
The band would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our friends and fans for all your support
Billy is playing in:

Bill Nershi, guitarist/singer/songwriter from The String Cheese Incident, proudly presents his new acoustic project - Honkytonk Homeslice. The group is a collaboration with his wife Jilian, who sings, plays guitar and contributes her original songs and Portland, Oregon-based singer/songwriter/guitarist/mandolin-player Scott Law.

"This band takes the music back to it's roots; back to the kind of intimate shows String Cheese did when it began," Billy Nershi explains. "Honkytonk Homeslice invites listeners into our living room (not literally) for an intimate performance that everyone can participate in. The audience is encouraged to sing along during the show. Sometimes they even make it up to the stage to join us. It's the kind of entertainment people used to make for themselves before radio and TV dominated
.

I really believe it was their choice to "downsize" (with exceptions) their scene. As a Deadhead for 26 years I watched them "downsize" in the '70'S and talk about that they played intimate music, only to continue going after the "hit song" and the pop market, only to finally get it and end up playing Soldier Field and the likes. This old "hippy" will really miss the Cheese and the intimate scene that I never thought I'd experience again.

I don't think I will see much of Cheese.  STS9 is at the same time as well as Aseop Rock and El P.

The choices are incredible when there is so much variety and diversity. You never know what you will stumble upon. My daughter went last year and although she can't remember who they were, she was exposed to real jazz which until then she was completely closed minded to. I always appreciated all the different kinds of music I was introduced to by Bill Graham with the Filmore West. Choices are a good thing, Enjoy!!!

Honestly,

the folks who put on Bonaroo know their stuff.   I went the best year, the 1st year, and after attending countless gigantic Phish debacles it was so cool to have some real direction and planning involved.

The services, lack of nasty trash piles and numerous vendors have made Bonaroo a real success.

no more crazy nasty Johnny-On-The-Spots....oh where were these guys for the Great Went & the Limestone shows?  oh wait, i think its the same crew.

it sucks to have been a part of the mistakes of the past...but then again i don't remember much!

have fun eveyone...wish i wasn't stuck at work this summer.

I hope SCI's guitar player, the asian cat, begins touring again.   Their keyboard player Kyle was fun to hang out with at Devil's Head in Wisconsin a few years ago.   So much talent with SCI, they just sort of lost it a while back...

If anyone is in Chicago at the end of July, the 23rd weekend, the Wicker Park festival will be off the chain.
www.silverwrapper.com for the line-ups.  A few killer late night shows at local clubs too.   Bustle in Your Hedgerow being my favorite each time.

I disagree that the first year line up was the best.  If all you want is jambands sure but I like more then that.  That's why I couldn't care less about TLG.  They have the same clean jamband sound that has been around for sooooo long. Nothing new there.  Also I was at every Phish camping event back to the Clifford Ball I agree the traffic at some of them was bad but good times! Except Coventry....that was just terrible.

I still listen to the Galactic sets from Bonnaroos 1 and 2, some of the best live stuff I've heard from them.  Also, Widespread panic rocks.

The Clifford Ball was my favorite...when the glider was released as the orchestra played?   heaven....
Circus people on stage?   crazy.

I got stuck in the US's worst traffic jam for 12 hrs at NYE 2000 down Aligator Alley in the Okeephenokee...that sucked so bad.

my only real complaints of any of the Phish events was the outhouses.  Phish crowds poop like no other   :o

What's so odd to me now, not to get way OT, is that Trey was just a mess even back then but yet his skills were spot on.   Oh, to be 23 again!!!

Bring on Galactic...gettin rid of Houseman was the best thing they've done.  On the other hand, it was nice to get a break during the sets to go get drinks.        I missed NOLA jazzfest this year but heard it was a blast.

Any other WSP fans here?   the shit that Jimmy Herring is pumping out now has to have all the WSP folk just smilin' BIG.  He is a talented pimp (to say the least) and has transformed the dirty into melody and rippin' solos.   Finally, WSP shows worth goin to for something other than NOS and hot hippy chicks.

yeah that was about right for us too. Although it was NOTHING compared to Coventry. We were in line for 28 hours. Talk about going CRAZY!!

HA!! F'n Houseman and his purple suits! Classic houseman line: "This one is for the ladies" which translates to time to pee.

28 Hours for Coventry?  oh my...that is terrible.   How many ballons did you do??

During our 12 hr layover on Aligator Alley i took a nap in the back of the truck, when i woke up i heard 'Pharmies...anyone need pharmies?"    as i opened my eyes this hot little chica was leaning into the back where i was sleeping, and there was nobody else around.  Literally, she was asking a sleeping guy if he wanted pills.

Boy do i miss those days!!!

years ago I went to the LoDO fest in Denver, killer lineup with Robert Walters, then Soulive, then Galactic.  Before the festivities began I was chatting with Chimay & Robert from the 20th Congress and Stanton Moore joined in.   I'd met him a few times but never really BS'd with him...he's so damn talented.   Anyways, since i had been drinkin' all day i asked where they were coming from & of course they had just come from Steamboat Springs.  I looked at him, and jokingly stated, it would be too funny to take off in the bus way high up in the mtns when Therule (Houseman) hops out to go pee.  Never in my life has anyone glared at me so bad!    It was like i just said 'Skerik sucks' or something real serious....

Houseman's departure was long overdue from what i've been told...

Looks like a load of fun.  I'm a huge Panic fan.  For those who are going don't miss OCMS, Gilian Welch, Ralph Stanley (how friggin' old is he anyway?), and of course Panic.  Waiting anxiously for reports and pics.

P.S. Anyone heard the new Greyboy Allstars stuff?  Only playing the one cut on XPN here.

Wolf,
Thanks. Lotsa shows there. I just wish you could stream to the big set to hear the quality before purchasing.
When I first saw your picture (not really thinking about your name) for some reason I placed it in San Francisco, like on Lombard. I see your on the other coast. Thanks again.
