I'm having issues with two aspects of channel level trims:
1)  During calibration of my 7.1 system in, say "DVD" I have all speakers set up, run "test" and find that the back (not surround, they're fine) channel levels revert to 0.0, regardless of what I calibrate them to be, and save them to be.  What's up here?
2)  In "Bypass 5.1" mode I manually trim a channel or two but when I leave the input and come back again they revert to 0.0 as well (I know I can/should do this at the universal player end, and mainly do...the trimming at the SP2 end is due to a temporary change in/out of an amp or speaker).  Is this a problem or a feature (i.e in bypass mode nothing is saved or trimmed)?  I know the manul states that bass mgtm is una=vailable, but assumed channel trim might work.

Issue 1 is a much bigger issue for me than issue 2.  Thx

HI Tim,

You can not use the level trim in any Bypass mode as you are in Analog.- it is only digital mode that you can save settings. You have to use the DVD players trim modes for analog bypass.

Number one I have not seen before - I will check on that one.  I have two SP2's at home and I tried them this morning without issue.  What software are you running?

As per earlier posts, although I love the sound of the SP2, it is finnicky a heck.  Upon startup it typically shows an error and then reinitializes once or twice again before finally settling in.  It freezes up on any commands about 20% of the time; a simple push on the power button solves this (it does not power down as you'd expect, it simply gets it out of lock mode).  And this back speaker channel level glitch....those are it's foibles, and I can live with all but the channel level gltich.

Hi Ted,

Sorry about the name issue.

Maybe try reloading the software.

If the SP2 is showing error on start up or resetting usually that is a low voltage condition. If the voltage drops below 104 volts the SP2 will reset.

Low voltage may explain some of the 'quirks'

What is the cause of low voltage?  I use PS Audio P300 Power Plant AC regenerators, and I'm sure the SP2 is plugged into one of them.

Hi Ted,

The power generators should not be a problem but try bypassing it for the time being and see if you still get the re-start issues.

I moved it, but same issue.  Back channels are again at 0.0, 0.0 (all others set to calibrated setting). 

More data: when it reinits it does so because of "DSP error".  I powered it up several times this morning and it did that maybe twice already (out of 8 to 10 or so).  I 'm sorry to say that I didn't notice if it was during those troublesome couple of power ups, but the SP2 continues to have lock ups this morning, with the ac direct into the wall.  Those lock ups can include no remote commands (pushing on power button once fixes it) or no sound out of Bypass 5.1 even when Bypass 5.1 is showing in LEDs (cycling through to Bypass 5.1 fixes it).

OK sounds like we had a broken SP2 - lets get it in for service.
