DACKIT Component Count
« on: 10 Aug 2003, 07:52 pm »
Hi Folks -

Currently, I've got my Meridian 508.24 hooked up to a Scott Nixon DACKIT and then to a Decware ZSLA1 and Zen Select. After that it's straight to the Hornshoppe Horns via a couple of impedance divider transformers.

I've been making a count on the number of resistor/capacitor components in the signal path between the DAC and the speaker. No special reason really, just one of those "I wonder..." questions. After the DACKIT I've counted 2CAPS and 2 Resistors.

Are there any goodpeople out there who've make the DACKIT and know how many resistors and capacitors are in the signal path between the DAC chip and the phono out sockets?

Many thanks

George

I know :)         There's one resistor at dac output to ground, one series cap to block dc  from the dac and one more resistor to load/drain off the back side of the couplin' cap.  So 1 series element and 2 resistors to ground.

Many thanks Scott. Hope all's well.

Straight from the horse's mouth, as they say.... :D
Wow, that's a pretty minimalist setup - 3 caps, 4 resistors from DAC to speaker driver. That must be less than most preamps or crossover circuits!

The DAC is performing very well. I'm very happy with it and been singing it's praise whenever I get the chance. I've been thinking about trying it out with a 12V battery. Is there a major improvement in sound quality or is the benefit/hassle ratio too low?

Kind regards

George
