OB subs w/ 'conventional' monitors??
« on: 23 May 2007, 01:34 am »
Would OB subs like the Auggie be a good match for a conventional monitor like my Merlin TSM-M? As these are sealed, they seem tight and quick and would like same from sub.

i'm interested to hear responses but can offer no insight.

With the configuration exactly opposite - boxed subs with OB mids & highs - my boxed subs were way too slow for the SI's.

Hopefully by end of June i'll have some Auggies, can't wait.

Just go OB for the mids & highs   aa   problem solved!

Hey Drphoto, ditto everything Matt said.
In my opinion, the more OB you can get the better.
Currently, I've got six OB's and soon should have nine (2 channel and HT on the same system)

I may try it. I'm tempted to go full OB down the road. There were some things my old Maggies could do that were magical, but they were so limited by lack of extension on both end and no 'punch' (for lack of a better word) that I gave up. I'm hoping that the OB route may give me the best of best of both worlds. I was originally intriqued by the Visaton driver, but the Hawthorne will probably be my choice, if I go this way.

My Merlins are very nice, but they sound (to me) like good 'hi-fi'. With the right material, the old planars just sucked me in and sounded like music.
