how to wire subs into stereo system.
« on: 20 May 2007, 06:01 pm »
I want to do a stereo set up in my house. I was looking at doing the RA8 from raw acoustics. and power it with the rotel RX-1052 stereo reciever. Ok now I want to hook up a left and right powered subs. How do I wire these in to the system that doesn't have sub outputs.

Thanks,

based upon what's shown about this receiver on the rotel website, you could use one of its zone outs for powered subs.  use the sub's built-in x-over to adjust the low pass x-over point.  your mains would have to run full-range, tho, unless you put some sorta passive x-over on the speaker cable...

If your receiver has an extra pair of outputs (usually receiver has a pair of auxiliary) there is a chance to hook your subwoofer.

Most powered subs either have speaker level inputs or come with speaker level adapters. You'd just wire the subs in parallel w/ your mains.
