Has anyone tried the AES Sixpacs with their VMPS speakers--specifically, RM2s?

I haven't but I sure would like to hear them with my RM2's.  But I don't think the have the "current" to drive them.  The 626R is a different story.

I have driven my RM40's with a Cary V12i.  I believe that was the idea/inspiration behind the sixpac.  I loved the ribbon/tube combo but felt the bass suffered ultimately in this setup.  I think if you powered the mids/tweets with the sixpacks and got a cheap pro audio amp for the bass and biamped you would be in heaven.  thats my 2 pennies.

Thanks Josh,

Did you try bi-amping before you sold your V-12, or did you go totally SS?

Unfortunately I didn't have the right preamp at the time to biamp properly as the input sensitivity of my two amps was too far off from eachother.  I wish I had tried, but I do know that the V12i did sound great from the mids & up (slightly strident highs, but I think that is a function of being worked too hard down below) but the bass wasn't up to snuff long term.

I have some Sixpacs on order--Should have them by the end of the week.

It is not clear to me what the impedance is of the mid/ upgraded tweeter in the RM2--Should I use the 8 ohm or 4 ohm tap? I am going to be using a Parasound 1200II on the bass.

Thanks!
