My oldest, originally bought new, piece is a Crown DC300A amp purchased in 1974. I was a soundman back then and used it as a PA amp for 2 years. It saw continuos duty driving Magnaplanar Tympany I-Ds up until about 1990 when I got a used Hafler DH220 which had a more refined sound. The Crown resides , in storage, underneath a friends house on the Big Island(Hawaii). I have fantacies of it driving some bass shakers, which is probably the only thing its good for anymore. I still own the Hafler, although thats in storage as well. I have a pair of Optimus LX-4s (Lineaum tweeter, kevlar woofer), modded per Dick Olsher, from 1994. I picked up an Advent 300 reciever  dating from 1978 a few years ago thats a sweet piece, but that probably doesn't count as I'm not the original owner.

Old audio gear is like a familiar song. It brings back memories of a place, time, and feeling, buried in the brainbox, occassionally dredged up for a few wistful smiles.

As I type this I listen through a set of M&K Satellite 1s and a M&K Volkswoofer subwoofer that are from about 1980. Most of the drivers and crossovers have been replaced, but the cotton batting and sub amp are still original, and I refinished the cabinets about 10 years ago. Still sound sweet as my computer speakers.

I run the analog audio from my Emu 1212m soundcard to an Audio Alchemy Digital Line Controller (line-stage preamp) and an Audio Alchemy OM150 amplifier, both from about 1992. Still working great. This powers my M&Ks. Since M&K and Audio Alchemy went belly up, I call my office system my "R.I.P. audio system."

Carver ALS Platinum's since '91 and until 2 months ago a Carver TFM-75 from '92 and a Carver C16 pre amp from '90. Only wish I knew there were so many Carver heads out there before I "gave away" the TFM-75. After purchasing AVA T8 pre and Ultra 550 I didn't think it was worth much. Oh well, good to know that for the eventual speaker upgrade.

   Hmmm... let's see.

1. Akai R2R '67 vintage. Bought in 1999 I think.

2. Sansui 217 Tuner '70s vintage bought in 2006.

3. Sony SCD2000CE SACD/CD 5 Disc changer bought new in 2004 I think. And HiFiDiy.net $40 DAC kit in Oct. 2006.

4. Audio Note M1 pre bought new in 1997.

5. Welborne Labs "Apollo" SET monoblocs bought new as a kit, first turn on late Dec. 1999.

6. DIY Fostex FE167E in tall TQWT cabs were born in Sept. 2002.

7. Rega Planar 2 TT bought new in 1997. Now highly modded. And Benz Micro "ACE" HO bought new about 2 months ago.

8. Grado SR60 headphone bought new in 1996.

I got bit at 12 as well, TONEPUB, so I've been at it 28 years.

If we are defining "long term" as 2 years or more here's my list:
