HagUSB Question Please
« on: 16 May 2007, 08:08 am »
Hello Jim,

I use a GW Labs DSP ahead of my outboard DAC. The GW Labs unit uses a pulse transformer on its coax digital input.

So if I connect the HagUSB to my GW Labs DSP, then I believe this will place two pulse transformers in series, each at the opposite ends of the digital interconnect (i.e. one pulse transformer at the HagUSB output, the other at the GW Labs input).

I think I read somewhere (can't remember exactly where though) that putting transformers in series like this, might create problems (something about transformers in series could interact with each other, etc).

So I'm turning to the expert. :) What are your thoughts please? Could this create any problems at all, or is it a total non-issue?

Thanks in advance for your response. :D

I don't see a problem with series transformers.  Should be ok.  Ethernet does same thing.
