Notice: the only problem with the amp is that the bias is a little shy of optimal and the bias trim pots are at the ends of their travel. It's close, but no cigar. I contacted Manley about this and the tech guy said I may have gotten one that ran unusually hot or something. Actually I don't remember what it was exactly, the call was awhile ago. Anyway, the solution would be to install a "master bias" whatsamajigger. I've seen this on at least one other Stingray, it looked like they installed it right behind the center tranny. Anyway, the idea is that you dial that pot down and then the individual trims can be brought into a healthier range.
The amp sounds good, however I think there may be some slight distortion as a result of the non-optimal bias. How much of this is true and how much is merely audiophillia nervosa because of my own knowledge of the problem is debateable. Nevertheless, a future owner would probably want to get that master bias doohickey installed so their mind can rest easy. But I don't know if I should send the amp to Manley to get this mod done and sell at a higher price or sell at a lower price and let the buyer decide. Or better yet, get the mod done and keep the dang thing and sell my preamp. After all it is a freakin' nice amp! Extremely heavy sucker too. The build quality of this piece is one the best I've seen, and I haven't seen much. It's well, manly! Thick powdercoat, gorgeous anodizing. She's a real beaut and it pains me to think of selling it. Then again, warm weather is finally arriving and this 'lil space heater will be competing with Mr. Air Conditioner for dominance of my room.
Asking $8000
Payment must be made in the form of a Western Union money order made payable to Weird Shifty Character (it's just a technicality, don't worry)
The amp is only $1000 of course, the remaining $7000 in change will be refunded to you. You'll find it buried under the large oak tree nearest the road in Old Heidelberg Park in Milwaukee, WI. If you can't find it look for the man with the red baseball cap playing a guitar. His name in Vince and he can direct you to the right tree. Make sure to dig only after dark so as to not arouse suspicion.
Also, I need to sell this amp so I can buy a camera to take a picture of it to place in this ad so I can sell it.
