Your wrong Bill.  Every person that does not use them takes money from them.  You will never change anything with that reasoning.  Its slow but it can happen over time.  This is why from April to September I run my car on B100.  I don't think I am hurting the oil companies but they are not getting my money so that makes me happy.  You not using Agon may not put them out of business but they will not have your money.

I never suggested anyone do anything.  I just said the the idea that one person does not make a difference is wrong.  It makes a difference that is measurable.

China / Ralph and AudioCircle Members,

We are a little happy to be reading this thread.  AudioXsell - www.audioxsell.com is a new competitor to Audiogon.  We offer our classifieds free to audiophiles while generating revenue through advertisers and high volume dealers.  That's right our classifieds are free.  Besides a classified section we provide event coverage of all the big US audiophile events.  We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and satisfaction.  We love feedback from our members and visitors, and are currently running a promotion where we will send you an audiophile grade CDR if you post a classified ad.

We will be posting our coverage from the Stereophile Show in New York shortly with approximately 400 pictures.  We invite you to discover www.audioxsell.com

hi tom,

where on your site can i post ads to sell my tuners?  i have a hi-zoot, modded to the gills sansui tu-x1 that may be looking for a new home.  wouldn't you like a high profile piece of kit like that on your site?   :green:

thaniks,

doug s.

I've got reasons to be negative about Audiogon but despite that I still figure that they provide the biggest potential volume, whether buying or selling.  The other thing is that the feedback scores tend to act as some indicator of the quality of the individual on the other side of the transaction.  I find those two things important.
The new policies there are an indication that clearly the new ownership believes that they were leaving money on the table.  What had been run as a perceived "public service" is now clearly seem  as a profit center.  If value is provided then I don't have a problem w/ it.  When all pretense of public service is dropped then the service must justify itself on value.

Yes, they could add value to the service.  I was a bit miffed when the free WTB ads went away.  Even though the WTB was free the prospective seller had to pay for an ad to respond- now both parties pay, which seems like greed.  For the increased ad prices (for some) they could at least upsize the photos and give you more of them to work with.
