Someone posted on AA about upgrading to a DJ Shure cart for a Yamaha TT; the particular model tracks at 4-5 grams (which may well be beyond the range of adjustment on that TT).  I'm not sure what the benefits of using a DJ cart are (other than durability)????

Thanks,
DJ Jazzy Tonto

I use a Stanton DJ cartridge (Groovemaster) that has been surgically  rigged with a Stereohedron line contact stylus.  Bass response is phenomenal, the thing has the midrange of a $1500 moving coil and is currently tracking @ 1.4g.

It all depends...

The asylum inmate seemed to have other intents, choosing a lower level Stanton (around $30) for budget reasons and so the conical stylus would track thrift store LP's.  He later upgraded to a higher priced Stanton, but actually preferred the tonal balance of the budget cart. BTW, he is using a Linn LP12. If you check out his post http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/228323.html he mentions other inmates who "persuaded" him to try the DJ cart. They all seem to be happy, so maybe it's worth checking out.
