Hiya Guys,

I'd like to make the first post to welcome aboard another local guy Chris Hoff, chief cook and bottle washer of Balanced Power Technologies aka BPT:wave:

As some of you know I've been fighting some gremlins living in my power lines. Not so much the audible ones (20-20k) but the Gremlins that linger and take out things like power supply caps. After loosing my big dual mono Korato pre to the demons, I finally decided I needed to get this fixed once and for all so I called Chris. Don't ask me why I waited so long  especially since he lives all of ten miles away (as the crow flies) over in Defiance.

Chris came by last night with one of his BPT-2's, a Fluke 41 harmonic distortion analyzer and an AudioPrism noise sniffer. Without giving away too much (because this is definitely worthy of writing about), I'll just say the experience was more than enlightening. As we schedule more gatherings, I'll be sure to bring this one along because you guys need to hear it in your systems.

Chris plans on making as many gatherings as he can. The first will be our GAS Reference Recording. Chris knows John Blaine and has a number of his other recordings.

(oh, it may take a day or two for Chris to post as it sounded like he was pretty tied up with his daughters softball games this weekend)

Just be sure to get a copy of Chris' bad-ass demo CD.   the last track has some amazing drums....

Just my opinion, but i think it would be a great idea if clubs (or groups of specific product owners) could all have the same recordings (cd) and use as a Reference....for overall sound, timbre, system performance and to let others know & fully understand how difft rooms, acoustic treatments, gear & sources affect how we enjoy this hobby.    To be able to reflect on " the drummer is WAY in the back left" type things is kinda fun, and lets folks know how their set-up stands up to anyone else's.

A while back i ordered the Pure Power Center from Chris.  At the time he was vacationing at the Lake with his family - he called me the day he got back and then made the PPC & it arrived 3 days later.    To say I was & am impressed would be an understatement.  the included Demo CD was just icing on the cake...

When GAS comes out with more recordings, ask Chris to make some copies on his modded Alesis Masterlink.   its a heck of a machine from what i can tell....

Balanced power is a good thing. If you do not want to spend that much check out Promitheus Audios Balanced power unit. It comes in three variations of power and price. Promitheus winds its own balanced power trannies and costs substantially less.

I certainly agree! That is a very high performance CD 8)

I only use it when I'm truly satisfied with my sound  Otherwise it will completely tear down any systems flaws. What a awesome recording 8) And hat's off to Chris I have dealt with him before 1st class act.
