FS ODYSSEY AUDIO LORELEIS
« on: 1 May 2007, 06:34 pm »
Sadly, I am selling my Loreleis. These have the cherry furniture finish. They rarely are seen on the used market for a good reason, Klaus Bunge really out did himself when he developed this speaker.Don't just take my word but ask or pm fellow AC members BUNKY, BYTEME, F100 to name a few. I am the original owner, sonically and asthetically excellent condition, lovingly cared for in a dedicated listening room, pet-free, n/s enviroment. THese speakers just sing and are very emotional sounding. I had them paired up with some mono extremes and the Modwright preamp and I have heard them with tubed amps, they all sound wonderful.
I have the original boxes, original brass cones, however I will include herbie half domes  they sounded better IMO.

With my asking price I will include a pair of Gronenberg TS premium sp/c's (paid 450.00USD)and Walker Audio HDL links (paid 600.00USD) the addition of these links puts these speakers that much closer to audio bliss)

Buyer pays shipping but if my price is met I will split the cost.

Price is 1800.00.USD. I  feel this is a great deal for someone who truly enjoys music and wants to be moved by the music. These speakers added to your system will do just that. Lowballers will be rightfully ignored..

Money order or paypal accepted. If my price is met I will also pick up half of the cost for paypal. I just want someone to give these Loreleis a good home. I will be posting in the next few days on Audiogon, wanted to give AC members first dibs.
Thanks,
Peter59

Peter,
If I have room for them in my house, I'll be at your place right away.
Someone is getting a great deal on these speakers. This is the lowest price that I've seen for the Loreleis.

Good luck with the sale.

If anyone has been sitting on the fence wondering if they should buy a pair of Lorelei's this is the perfect chance to get one hell of a bargain. the TS premium cables that he is including with this pair are world class cables and the Lorelei's are very fine Loudspeakers and are a Bargain even at thier $2800.00 retail price. i have had several lengthy conversations with Peter59 and he seems like a really good guy. Good Luck with your Sale.thanks....WCW III

They are bloody awesome speakers.....I drove them with as little as 30 watts of Berning EA-230 triode power and they responded awesomly...with more power, I cant imagine how good they are..

Wow why are you selling those babies, are you going to go the SET route?  This price has me seriously dazed and possibly interested 900. off.

I have Nightingales and love them with a sub, really have had no desire what so ever to part with them, I am sadned to see nightingales being offered up at 400-500 a pair that is insane and an insanely good speaker also.  Hmm, Sadley I am having too much other than spkr upgrade itch presently to think about this fantastic deal at the moment.

I am with you, 1000a. I have not heard the Lorelei, but if it is anything close to the Symphonic Line RG 5, it baffles me why anyone would want anything else, let alone to go the SET route. But a chacon son gout.

It pains me, too, to see a speaker as sophisticated as the Nightingale going here for $400. What has the world come down to. In fact, the prices for which Odyssey electronics are sold on Audiogon seem insanely low to me. For some time now, I have been trying to gather the funds to purchase a pair of Loreleis, and I may have to part with my Epiphonies to get there; but my Nightingales are not going anywhere.

Incidentally, 1000a, what sub are you using with the Nightingales? I have always wondered how the Nightingales plus a fast sub compare with Alain’s larger Lyra speakers. For the type of music I listen to (classical), I find the low extension of the Nightingales adequate. In my room, they cover the orchestra quite well. In my opinion, the Soundstage review of the Nightingales was somewhat misleading regarding their low extension, and that review, I am sorry to say, may have contributed to their low popularity; the author should have recalled that many of the world’s most refined speakers (in my book, the Harbeth M40, the Gradient Revolution, the Linkwitz Orion, and the good old Spendor SP1/2) don’t go below 40. The experience of sub-40 bass in large halls can be transporting, but in a typical listening room, big bass often comes with big problems.

The Lyra 7 are wonderful speakers!  Higher quality drivers (and larger) than the Nightingales,   bigger cabinets (same shape/design as the Nightingales) and the bass they pump out is beautiful!   Tight,  musical...melodic......Sweeeeeeeeet!

With the Lyra 7 there is no need for a subwoofer.  Unless of course you're using them in a HT system.

I've always felt the bass of the Nightingales was highly under-rated.  Those babies deliver surprising bass for their size/design!

lets start a thread in 2 channel audio on the Alain Courteau speakers, to enclude the eipony and gales.  what do you think, I do not want to get in Peters way of selling his speakers.  I sent jose a PM on the gales and sub issues, I think he'd enjoy it also.  I do not yet know how to start a thread, do you?

Re: starting a new thread: go to "Circles", then "Audio Central" (or whatever circle you feel it belongs), then "New Topic".

Peter,

Are these still available?

When I was doing a search for speakers a few years ago I spent months researching and it came down to these and a pair of Gallo Reference 3.1s.  I went with the Gallos but always wondered what it would be like if I went with the Loreleis.

Thanks.
