Okay, I always thought the guy was a little freaky looking and assumed I would never like his music.  Spank me for my pre-judging and the ass-u-me thing too.  But then again I only lived for three things in the 80's (Marbles would probably be the first to guess them).

Anyway, I have JJRuth and really like it.  What should be the next couple of CD's I should get?????  Also, if any are on a hi-rez format that would be a kicker.

Thanks all.

I had the same intro to Lyle.  Thought he was a freak.  Try to catch the PBS Austin City Limits of Lyle.  This show gives new meaning to the phrase "tight band".

For your next album I would try Lyle and the Big Band live in Texas or another live one (see links below).  Then I would pick up Road to Ensenada and Step Inside this House.

One track to check out is Friend of the Devil on the Deadicated compilation. I still use that track to test out systems - on a good system Lyle floats in between the speakers.

Ditto the above suggestions but don't forget Step Inside This House as it is real purdy too.

And do not be confused, this guy Is weird, in a good kind of way.

Didja buy JJRuth on DVD-A?  Its the only title I found by him, so far.

DF

Great! Thanks for all the rec's.  I will be sure to check out a live cd for the first round.

DeadFish, I bought the CD before I bought the unversal player so it is "only" redbook technology    Pretty decent recording though.
