4B SST C-series v. 4B SST?
« on: 27 Apr 2007, 02:58 am »
Has anyone compared 4B SST C-series with previous 4B SST (front face plate made of 3 separate pieces)?
I noticed quite a difference, wondering if it can be contributed to the fact my new C-series is not burned in yet, or there are indeed modifications resulting in different sonic signature?

Has anyone tried by-amping with 2X 4B SST (one drives LF, 2nd MF/HF), hopefully with PMC speakers?
Is it worth the cost (tri-wiring with single amp did god job)?

I believe they are the same amp. James confirmed this to me in an email from him.

Yes, believe James has posted here as well that the difference is cosmetic only.

Hi Sasha,

Just confirming with you that the SST C-Series is strictly cosmetic over the previous SST Series. It is interesting though that you feel you hear a difference?  One time many many years ago we changed the front panel on/off button on the amplifiers to Black from White and some customers swore they heard a difference. I think our 'expectations' are very powerful persuaders.
