Cayin TA-30 & Primaluna?
« on: 26 Apr 2007, 02:59 pm »
Hmmm, I came across the above and Primaluna.  However the Primaluna resembles the Cayin almost to perfection  Kinda confused now since I've been looking another integrated amp for a small setup, is the Primaluna brand a Cayin?

Hmmm, Cayin is cheaper however I never heard them personally.  The Primaluna sounds sweet, very musical.  In the near future I am looking to do a small setup for a master bedroom and a personal gym, with monitor speakers and a decent tube cd player.

Thanks

I believe that the Cayin is made in the same factory as the Primaluna, but the resemblance is more in appearance than the actual guts.  Upscale Audio has quite a bit of upgrades done to the basic amp so that they can sell it without as much concern regarding reliability.  You can go the the Upscale Audio web site to learn more about the Primaluna line.

Not 100% certain, but I thought the primary difference in the two were the adaptive auto-bias of the PrimaLuna (which is supposedly designed in Europe).

No biasing ever needed may give a nice edge to the Primaluna...but I don't know their retail price differences

I'm 95% sure of what I'm about to write...

Spark Audio is the company that manufactures both Cayin and Primaluna...the Cayin products are Spark Audio's own brand, and Primaluna is a different company that outsources its manufacturing to Spark.  Some of the background on Spark Audio is written up in this Cayin A-70T review:
