Logitech Squeezebox Announcement

I hope this link works.

http://digg.com/tech_news/Logitech_Announces_Squeezebox_Support_for_Music_Lockers_From_MP3tunes

I've been tracking Linspire since it's Lindows days hoping for a simple Linux replacment for M$ Windows products so I get these newsletters and this tidbit showed up in my inbox today.

The jist of it is a free music locker on the internet and now it looks like it will work with a Squeezebox.

Thanks for this post.  This is a great concept.  Unfortunately the free version only allows 10mb per song and the $40 version is limited to 50mb per song.   I checked a few FLACs and I still have quite a few over 50mb.

No FLAC, and the premium is limited to 192kbps.

The Free Locker is limited to 56kbps.

That’s funny. The average Joe won’t notice the difference between 192k and 128k. They had to make it as low as 56k just so they can actually hear a difference and think; Hey the 192k sounds just like the CD, that’s good enough for me! For $3.33 per month, why not! Space is unlimited.

I have just around 100GB of MP3’s at 320kbps. So if I sampled them down to 192kbps I’d still be using up about 60 GB of their server.
Somewhat tempting.
