Ming-Da MC-7 Preamp -SOLD
« on: 23 Apr 2007, 04:57 pm »

SOLD

I received a Ming-DA MC-7 preamp from Hong Kong and while I was waiting for it to arrive I went in another direction with my system.

This preamp has never been used and the box has only been opened to check the contents.

From what I hear/read it's a great sounding preamp and can also be modified by Response Audio to sound even better

I paid $380 (including shipping fro HK) - I'm asking $200  (firm) + actual shipping costs to US mainland only.

Paypal or MO accepted.

Sorry, another question; is it quiet, IOW, does it impart any noise while idling?  Thanks.

Yes - that link is the same. I have never powered up the preamp as I now have a bi-amped system (speakers have no crossover). I just opened it to check the contents and it's been sitting in a closet for a few weeks.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here. Just wantedto verify a few things that were mentioned.

Is it similar to this one?  http://www.responseaudio.com/ming-da%20reference%20preamps.htm
The MC-7 uses 4 signal tubes and one 5U4 rectifier. In th elink provided above, it is the first (larger) picture.

This unit is dead quiet but not out of the box. The Chinese signal tubes that come with it can be noisy. Get yourself a decent set of tubes and you're all set. I have found the Sovtek 12AX7LPS to be the quietest in this particular amp. For the 12AU7 tubes, both the JJ or EH have proven to be quiet. With the right tubes, it [can] have a dead quiet background at idle.
