I'm getting all the ingredients together to build a Cornet2. I can't seem to find a store that sells 99% isopropyl alcohol. The local drugstores seem to sell at most 91% isopropyl.

Any suggestions as to where I can buy the stronger concentration? Thanks for the help.

At the chemists, I can usually only find 70% and 90%.  So occassionally I buy
some online from

As a disenfectent, you want to use the 70% alcohol / 30% water as that
mixture is ideal for rupturing the cell walls of little nasty germs.  Point
being that the higher concentration, 90% and 99% stuff isn't all around
better.  99% is good for cleaning circuit boards though!  90% will do fine
too but that 10% water won't evaporate as fast as the isopropyl alcohol will.

Personally, I use solder with no-clean fluxes (which do leave flux behind, it's
just not as unsightly).  Be careful with the "clean with water fluxes" as some
of them MUST be removed.  [And I'm sure tempted right now to buy a lifetime
supply before the leaded stuff is entirely removed from the market.]

Go to your local pharmacy and ask them to order it for you. it will come in about two days.

91% works ok too.  I sometimes end up with 70%.  Not happy with it, but can make it work.  The hard part is getting it to rinse well and dry clean.  I've even used ethyl (the nice drinkable kind).  Have me a leaf blower rigged up in the shop for the sole purpose of helping these things air dry.  Like in 5 seconds.

You can still operate without cleaning the boards.

If possible, order some of the pure alchohol spray from electronics supply sites...any of the rubbing alchohol available has an agent in it to keep people from drinking it. 

most of the sprays i've seen end up being $10 a bottle after shipping.  worth it though for peace of mind.

I forget that some stores will actually get what you want if you ask for it!

I'll try that first and if that fails, I'll see about getting it online.

If you're not a member, find yourself a Costco member.  They have 99% in the pharmacy department.
