Candela is here!

Wellllll....

My Candela arrived today ----

First things first, this unit is large. When I say large - I mean large. Im talking like amp size large. Im talking like 1-1.5" taller than the Khartago and 1" WIDER than the Khartago.

Heres the real question though, why is it that the Candela is WIDER than the Khartago???

I hope the Stratos is the same size or I will go bananas. It looks weird to me. Doesnt look like the same brand or anything.

But it sounds fantastic - still breaking it in...

The worst part on the unit is the remote by far, very dinky...

I have pictures on another forum ---

well better start looking for some cbs/hytron tubes- aa

i think the remotes come from  the german symphonic line -

as for the size, i think klaus is using some off the self parts for the case instead of all new stuff -i could be wrong

Of the 4 or 5 tubes I've tried, I have to agree.  I'm sticking with the CBS/Hytrons.  I have not tried the Amprex Hollands though.

I just plugged in the candela yesterday after i got khartago monos from klaus... and damn, the wait is well worth it. It sounds wonderful! Except for the remote, everything about the products screams class! :thumb:

the cbs/hytron 5814wa seems to be hard to find lately, i have it on word that the '50's raytheon 5814 blackplates are very close with the raytheons being a little smoother.  they may be getting just as hard to find.

If money were no object...is there a tube that would bring the Candela to a whole new relm?

question...

Does the Candela disconnect the grounds of the unused inputs?

Thanks, I did but still end up with the CBS/Hytrons (paid about $50 for the pair) that I have in mine now.  They sound great but, you know, always wondering if better is out there.
