Strfofoam

Strfofoam

Boy do I have a bunch of this stuff. I need to either find some use for it or get rid of it. Does Styrofoam have enough absorptive properties to make its use as a bass absorber worthwhile? I find I have of  this to cover a 9 X 12 wall eight inches deep -- really!  :scratch:

Sorry - Styrofoam has zero acoustical value.  The only thing it's decent for is if you're doing cloth walls and have spots with no treatments.  It can be used as a solid backer that's acoustically inert.

Oh well, nearly three cubic yards to the dump! At least I know what to do with it. Thanks Bryan.

Actually you could make skyline diffusors out of that stuff. It'd be a huge amount of work to cut and glue all the pieces, and it wouldn't be as good as possibly using other materials. But RPG sells styrofoam diffusors and I know first hand that they work well.

Actually that's a great point. However I started looking at all the cutting and gluing it would take and decided the dump was a more attractive alternative.  aa
