Boy, that's tough.

I would have to say now that I have a 30" cinema display
on my Macintosh, I could never go back to a 21" display
again.

Woops, wrong forum.

I guess now that I have a pair of real WE 300B's Id never go
back to Chinese 300B's again!

Paulfolbrecht its not that i dont listen to digital, i do when having music playing while putzing around the house.
When time comes time for sit down music its got to be vinyl for me. It makes for much longer music sessions with no fatigue.

X = Hemp drivers

Ohhhh, the tone!  And on that note;

X=WesternElectric 300b
Y=other 300bs (I know, it's not fair. I haven't tried them all)

Btw, WE300b+Hemp driver= tone squared

X=PushPull DHT 6B4G power running in class A
Y=EL34 running UL

X=Everything DIY
Y=Anything manufactured.

And I have a feeling that X=Single driver speakers, Y=2-ways w Xover will be next.  I have only built a cardboard prototype of a Metronome with some cheap Radio Shack drivers, but the coherence of the vocals is stunning even if they otherwise don't sound that great.  With better drivers and real boxes I'm sure I'll be hooked, although my DIY 2ways sound pretty good also and aren't going anywhere.

X = Salk Sound HT3

Y = any other speaker

I am not really sure about saying this will be the last pair of speakers I will own (I am 29) but I am confident they will be around for many years to come.  They are beautiful looking and sound even better which is a bold statement.

I demure on this question b/c even what I thought was a piece **** at one time another has often come back to delight in its own place and different use.  Even my 15+ year-old mass-market Pioneer rack-system integrated CAN make music in the right circumstance  :thumb:

X = SET amplification

Y = anything else  :thumb: :icon_twisted:

I don't think I'd buy another Rogue Audio pre again, my ARC kicks its ass in noise floor and resolution...

X=cable modem
Y=dialup

Okay, that was too easy.

X=Gallo Solos
Y=box speakers

Well, not entirely true, nothing against box speakers...but the Gallos are such that once I finally assembled three pairs together I couldn't imagine selling them.  Also, when I heard them in someone elses' room I knew that they had untapped potential and I merely had to wait until I could afford better surroundings to put them in.  Plus, they don't make them anymore and their contemporaries well...they don't suck but they sure ain't as good. (or look as cool)  And some people have to ask what they are when they see them.  They've been mistaken for lamps!
