Jackman, whatever happened to the Sprints?

I remember reading your posts when you got the Marathon Sprints, but I didn't pay much attention at the time.  All I remembered was that it was a speaker with a ribbon tweeter.  Recently, while going through some of the GR Research Criterion/Diluceo threads I started wondering if the speaker you were talking about then was one of the GR Research options.  I found the thread on HD, but the picture is gone and the Omega website doesn't seem to have any info on that speaker anymore.  I was wondering if you still had the Sprint, some pictures of it, and how you think it compares to the GR offerings.

Hi,
Great question.  I still have them, however, they are in the midst of some tweeks.  The speakers sounded better with tubes than solid state so I needed to try some new crossovers.  I tried two different sets, but they still didn't sound as good with SS as tubes.  The speakers' response is being measured and new crossovers will be put together soon.  I'll make sure to bring them to the Criterion or Dolcetto ribbon speaker evaluation in the late Summer/early Fall and share my thoughts.  Quitie honestly, I wanted to complete this sooner, but got tied up with my new job and all of the travel I've been doing.  Very sorry...

Jack

PS- if you are looking for speakers to use with a tube amp, I STRONGLY suggest looking at Louis' Omega line.  They are unbelievable speakers.

Thanks Jman, I look forward to reading your thoughts once you get the Sprints squared away and get to hear the Criterion/Diluceo.  Is the ribbon used by the Sprints the same as the one in the GR speakers?  And is the Sprint MTM like the Diluceo, or is it configured like the Criterion?

The Sprint is a two way, like the Criterion.  The ribbon is a longer type and not the same kind found in the Criterion.  The Criterion is more like a Raven tweeter versus the one in the other speaker.   I have not auditioned Danny's new crossover design in the Criterions or the MTM version.
