New GUI control system for MC9
« on: 30 Jul 2003, 01:18 pm »
As some of you may have already read I have a large media server (RAID5) holding lossless audio (and HD / DVD's) hanging on my home net... There are a few output nodes with the main one connected to my HTPC and theater setup...

This was controlled with Media Centre and Glissando running on wireless 802.11 touchpads and a hacked net appliance (Virgin Webplayer) so it could be controlled from the couch with an attractive GUI...

Well theres a new king in town... For all my HTPC stuff I use Marios MainLobby SW to make it button click friendly and not look like a PC (see  http://www.webpromotion.com/cinemar/mainlobby.html ) basically my HTPC never looks like a PC (I have modifed XP's boot screen also to have a DVD logo for the few seconds of boot) and once booted it is all menu driven...

Anyway Mario has now produced Music Lobby which works with the MC9 web remote to provide client server control that has looks to die for...

The thread on the Cinemar forum is here http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1257 and the AVS discussion thread is http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=280946&highlight=music+lobby

He is working on the PDA version and multi zone sounds like it will come soon also... This is a major upgrade from Glissando and having this running and updating on touchpads and LCD screens near my rack is simply too cool for school... Anyone considering making a professional looking media server install really should check this out...
