I tried to do a search on AC on this,  seems that there is no mention. Excuse me if there is an existing thread elsewhere.  I am interested to know has anyone compare this against the Transporter?

OK.. Maybe I should rephrase my question.     Has anyone seen or has a chance play with this new toy from Benchmark?

not to advertise, but there's a quite lengthy thread on the benchmark dac1 usb over at head-fi; notable mainly because an engineer from benchmark makes an appearance. good luck, i'm looking at it too, usb is the best thing since sliced turkey.

i'd be interested to see how they implement it. on diyhifi.org, there is a lot of talk and evidence to suggest that at least the first usb/spdif chips were real stinkers, riddled with jitter.   there is another chip in existence but it must be programmed, that is about all i understood in that discussion.
