I built this stock Bugle for myself but have since decided to focus my time and funds on my digital system. The bugle is powered by 2 1.3ah SLAs. Flip the switch and the bugle is active, flip it again and it charges the batts using the included charger which has charging and charged LEDs. This thing sounds great, no hum in my system. I don't know how long it will run on a charge but it should be quite a few hours. I have only played a half dozen albums using this unit which is part of the reason I am selling, I typically listen to my Squeezebox.
