I've got my eye on a set of supertower II's...

they are big ole beasties...(maybe just too big) but can someone give me a hint of what they might sound like. I'm thinking of moving a set of Paradigm 100's to a HT set up. I read alot aobut the "slam" factor that the supertower's have. I'm currently using a MA 210 sub w/the 100's...so I do like slam...but I do also enjoy quality sound. can anyone give me a hint/help with the STII's ablity to reproduce jazz. Just kinda fishing 'round for a bit of help. also doing on-line seaches I see many addtional modules (SE II "se"/ "a" etc.) any help on the meaning/differences would be also helpful. Thanks in advance!

Peace, Pogue

Looks like you are referring to VMPS speakers.  Even the older ones sound pretty good and will reproduce any kind of music quite well, especially considering the prices you can get those for. SE means Special Edition. These models usually have all of the available options, soundcoat, better drivers etc.  Finding them won't be easy. F100 from this board had some old Supertower/R's for sale at a great price.  The sound per dollar will be excellent.

You might try posting this to the VMPS forum.  Some of the guys have had the pre-ribbon versions of some of the speakers.

Hey Pogue...Do you remember Dennis...from AR?  You may want to give him a try as I think...he may have had these exact same speakers.  You may want to give him a try at AA...in the speaker forum.  I think he posts under the moniker Dennisj.

A pair of very large super towers were for sale at audiogon the other day, he has pics. of them in the add. These are much larger than the super tower/r.
