Why would you need a plastic pelican case for a pair of speaker cables?

If they get bumped, all the electrons fall out, and they aren't "burned in" anymore.

I think Monster Cable provides the same for their uber-expensive speaker cables.

Don't know why myself......perhaps Mercedes-like marketing is everything at those prices  :)

Or you could carry your bowling ball in it 8)

You leave it open near your listening chair, it's to remind you of where you could have kept the cash you paid extra for the pelican case...

To Eric....why not a Pelikan case?  If more gear were protected by such a case, damage would be near non-existent. Someone is getting a great deal on the Kimber as well.

How would you possibly used a case like that to protect the cables while the speaker wires were in use? Unless you do a lot of audio shows, why would your speaker wires need protection like that? Maybe I'm missing the point here or maybe my speaker wires just lead a sheltered life...
