... They were one of the first tripath amps. A real monster, good for 500 watts bridged. I believe they had RF problems, reliability problems, etc., and few were ever sold (IIRC, the design turned into the Carver ZR pro amp). Now, it seems that the old stock is being liquidated on ebay. (Search for Audiosource class T)
My offer was just accepted. Not that I truly needed one, but I'm very curious about it from a historical perspective. I really drooled over these when they were released, but they were off the market before I could buy one. One of my switching-amp EE friends is going to give it a go-over, maybe clean a few things up in the design.
So, anybody here own one of these dinosaurs? Do they sound any good?
Frankly, I've never heard a digital amp that I liked, but this was just too cool to pass up
