My big monitor speakers are not air tight anymore
« on: 27 Jul 2003, 03:50 pm »
My big VMPS monitors have small leaks. When you push in say the passive sub, the other speakers do not move the same from one speaker cabinet to the other.

Careful inspection of the surrounds and coils revealed that they look ok (no obvious rot or breaks, etc.).

How can I EASILY identify where the small leaks can be, and then what simple patch / seal will work?

Thanks ....

Two things come to mind. First discuss this with Brian at VMPS. Second, there is a fine powder home air efficiency testers use to find drafts. They just puff a little in the air and watch the direction it goes. My off the wall guess is speaker gasket leaks.

We shared a CES room with Brian a few years ago and he fixed the leaks in the demo speakers with hot melt glue.....
