Hello AudioCircle!!!

China here!!  I must be a "glutton" for punishment. Been a little busy. Went out and started fooling around with a DAC/CD player.

Sounds pretty good as it is. But we are doing some little touch ups and changes within. Plus dealing with a manufacturer. Whose idea

of "quality controll" is to "create a truth and then forget about it".

I just want to know if there are any of you that would be interested in "playing" with a prototype DAC/CD player. Of! Course!! I think

it is great!! But, then again!! I am trying to "flog" a few of these to make the rent payments. So take that with a "grain of salt". If

interested in the "Ming Yi Audio DAC/CD Player". We should be able to ship by the end of next month. We also have a couple of people

in line already. So there will be no problem with adding names to the list as time goes on!! Right now the retail is $995.00 US plus

shipping and handling.

If you are interested in getting on the list. To listen to and evaluate in a real world situation. Your listening area.
Please contact me at admin@mingyiaudio.com and we will make arrangements. I think, like the current "road show"
with the "Shuguang Audio SG-502B amplifier"that seven to ten days would be enough time. Then you would be asked
to forward to the next person in line at your expense, insured via an acceptable and approved means. Meaning DHL,
FedEx. UPS or USPS. Unless agreed upon by all parties in advance. It is also suggested that you take digital photos
of when you receive the equipment and when you ship the equipment. In this case the prototype "Ming Yi Audio DAC
            /CD player.
Additional information from Ming Yi Audio via email.

Also the little gnomes in the backroom have been sort of busy with a couple of other little tidbits. All prototypes. First is the "Ming Yi

Audio Pre-Amplifier". Battery operated.

Plus the "little" "Ming Yi Audio Amplifier". Its a two box affair, separate power supply. "Little" is a matter of interpretation. It weighs in

at some eighty kilos.  I wanted something, light, compact, nice to look at, easy to use with the best sound for the money!!  Well!! We got

the "best sound for the money" part. Now this is a "bold bold statement" think "Levison", "Krell", "McIntosh".

I personally think that the "gnomes" have been drinking way too much "green tea" with some additional flavoring mixed in there!!! In

fact, way way too much additional "flavoring". Or maybe it's that new tobacco they have been smoking lately??? Oh!!! Well!! Nobody

ever tells me anything!!

Hey!! If nothing else the power supply could be used as a "boat anchor". It must be a matter of translation. I suggested that "we"

use the "HyPex" modules and come up with something that sounded good if not great. I pictured something nice and lightweight.

I for one do not want to get a hernia by lugging some piece of "iron" all over the place. I think I will get the "gnomes" to run up and

down the stairs with the "Amplifer" on their backs a few times. That will teach them!!!

Now where is that "Green Tea" that they were drinking??  It's been one of those weeks. Or better yet!! Where is that pipe they were

playing with!!!

I got the bright idea to play around with some wood products for acoustics or sound dampening. I guess that is what you would call

it. All I want is to be able to set some equipment on something like a wooden platform. Like a maple cutting board. So!! I have been

looking at "maple", "deal" "fir" and "bamboo". Came up with a size of forty by sixty by seven or fourteen centimeters that would be

attractive to start. (twelve inches by eighteen inches by two or four inches thick)

I had pictured in my mind. A finished product, but what I got was something that was "most definitely" not a finished product. It

looked like just what it was. A block of wood, ready, to be finished.

So back to square one on that one. Maybe!! It is just me. But, I tend to think that there must be a lot of "green tea" or "tobacco"

going around.

Well!! If anyone out there has any brilliant ideas or constructive suggestions.

Please!! Feel free to let me know.

As always, all the best. From China!!

I had some madrone logs that were cut in 1999, a guy came over to the island last year and milled them into flooring strips about 7 cm wide and kiln-dried them.  The flooring idea did not work for us, I sold the wood to a guy who is making them into cutting boards, about 12 inches square.  They are about 18 mm thick, I think this would make some very nice platforms.  Pacific madrone is dense and hard, harder than oak but not hard as bamboo.  I think I'll have him make me a platform for my amp and see how it sounds.  Stay tuned.  A lot of the wood was figured and very beautiful.

I am interested in trying the CD p[layer.
