Eighth Nerve states that optimum positioning is achieved when there is equal space between each side of a triangle and the adjacent wall or ceiling. This spacing is not possible with my crown molding.

What about putting a spacer (packing foam?) behind the lower leg to match the spacing.  I have mine flush but I think it may be more beneficial to have equal spacing between the trap and the wall/ceiling surfaces.
