Finally, I found some nice inexpensive LP storage!

I've been looking for awhile and just coudn't find the right storage for about 600 albums that I don't listen to often, but want to keep them. I was in Menards today and found some shelves and poles that were kind of a kit. There were different leg lengths and different shelf widths and lengths. I bought 4 shelves that were about 14" deep and 38" wide at $9.95 each and 4 legs about 55" long at $4.95 each. That is roughly $60 dollars for a faily nice looking, strong LP storage. The legs were a little too wide, so I went back and got 6 13" ceramic tiles at 1.70 each to put on the ends. The shelfs are made by WireTech.

That's very nice looking. I've been using Ikea Billy Bookshelves (the narrow ones - 2 feet wide) to handle my LP's. I think these cost about $30, but probably only hold about 300 LP's each.

You can find similar 4-Tier Shelving at Target, Walmart, Lowe's.....some in white, chrome, or black. Works well for a lots of things....and their strong.
Wayner....from looking at your albums, I notice you don't keep them in plastic outer sleeve covers...or do you ?

That unit is so strong and stable, I had a 2 shelf version (from Home Depot) and had a full size washer on the bottom shelf and a full sized electric dryer on the top shelf (the bottom shelf was more for shelf stability, because the washer is better off on the floor for the spin cycle).
These are nice too, but more expensive:

Over the years I tried a bunch of inexpensive shelving but in the end I had a mess of unmatched shelves. So last fall I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and get some dent looking shelving from Ikea.
Ikea Expedit
These weren't horribly expensive. For the wide shelves they were $129 and for the narrow ones they were $79. The are darned sturdy and well worth the extra few bucks.

Wayner,
I've got the same racks. Don't fully load them. They will sag over time.
I'm getting ready to either go the route ScottF did, or to something from Boltz.

Hey Scott F. That's all the vinyl you have
. I think you need more. There are a few shelves that are not full yet. Fill em' up.
Oh, and by the way. Where is the ladder you use to get to those CD's?

Hey Scott,
I was admiring your LP/CD storage units at the last X-mas bash. I may have asked at the time but don't recall the response. Did the storage units come with the bottom base/support or was that something you constructed yourself to give it a little height...since you're so tall?
Thanks,
Ron

Hiya Ron,
I knocked together some 2x8's to get them up off the floor. Just made a rectangular frame and spray painted it flat black.
