Anybody have Damien Rice: O & 9
« on: 16 Mar 2007, 11:11 pm »
I really like "O" and was looking forward "9"
I've only given "9" 2 spins but it isn't grabbing me at the moment.  The sound seems harsher and colder that "O" and doesn't seem to have that warm and emotional draw that made "O" so enjoyable to me.

Just looking to see what others are hearing.

Thanks

I think you're on target overall, but "9" has grown on me after repeated listenings....give it time.

I much prefer "O" to "9".

Let me clarify my post, I agree with Mark...."O" is better than "9", i just meant "9" is better after some time with it...

I agree.  It took me a few listens to get a bit more used to it.

I also awaited "9" with high hopes.   It does deliver much of the same "flavor" as "O".   I enjoy both but I prefer "O" a little more.   I wish he had more than 2 albums produced over the last 4 yrs.   I'm not counting those 2 or 3 song releases as albums.  Play it some more and I think it'll grow on you also.

Was rather funny, and a little embarrassing while playing the album for the first time in our van, on song #4 "Rootless Tree"   hearing the "F u " bomb dropped for my whole family to hear.  Good thing a 4 and 2 1/2 yr old weren't listening carefully.
