WHite? or GRay?
« on: 16 Mar 2007, 12:21 am »
Seems many screen companies are coming out with "gray" (grey/silver) versions of their screens.

Anyone here have any preferences and why?

I know it is said that the grey/silver screens have better blacks, and have heard it is at the expense of color vibrancy, and contrast.

Anyone find that true?

Do you find the one works better in higher or lower ambient light situations?

Or any other opinions?

A grey screen is a decent option for a cheaper digital PJ with poor black levels but tons of brightness.  Other than that, stay with a low gain white screen.

I think grey (or "high contrast") screens are a last resort for PJs that don't have very good blacks.  Most of the experts claim an HC screen will suck the life out of your picture.
