My 3 year old stuck her fist into one of my b200's, and completely bottomed it out. It runs perfectly. One tough driver. What amp? I was thinking a older scott tube amp. With certain amps, I have found the b200 less satisfying. Those, for me, in my room etc, include : Teac FS-X1, stock Teac AL700P, Bolder fully modded Teac AL700P, Vinnie modded AL700P (not the battery one, just a light mod of the stock power supply board he did for me), Panasonic SAXR25 and Panasonic SAXR55 (both of these were bearable, especially with the use of the bass EQ feature). The three best amps I have heard with the b200 are: JVC EX-A1, MarkC's custom hybrid monoblocks, and my current amp a Magnavox EL84 single ended tube amp. With the last 3 amps, the sound is balanced top to bottom. With the other amps I found the sound a little too bright for my liking. Same baffles, same room, same music etc.
I would expect the b200 to mate well with the older Scott tube amp, the mix of the QTS of the driver, and the damping factor of the amp should synergize well. That is my experience with the console Magnavox amp I have today.
May I ask which Scott amp you might use w/ the B200's. I have a 299B that I have used with B200 & it works great, The loudness/aka bass boost switch will come in handy indeed, the one controles period are nice to have with open baffle..It will not add boom,, it will just fill in..I use the Scott in another OB system with great results..you will like it...
