After some thought, a customer helped me realize that a FRYBABY could indeed break-in a balanced XLR cable. Or more specifically, a string of them. It's just not easy. And it takes extra alligator clip wires and paperclips (or some other pin to contact the female side). The trick is to split it into steps. You do the signal pair first, then the shield/return. Follow these steps:
1) Connect one FRYBABY output to pin 2 of cable. Connect other output to pin 3. This is "voltage" mode burn.
2) Short pins 2 and 3 at far end. This is "current" mode burn.
3) Combine pins 2 and 3 into one FRYBABY output. Use other output for pin 1.
4) Add jumpers at far end to short pin 2 and 3 to pin 1.
That should do it!
