Dead B200's
« on: 6 Mar 2007, 02:06 pm »
I have three B200's that no longer work.  Two saw a DC signal and the cones are frozen in place. The 3rd speaker has an open voice coil.  Is there any way to repair them, or are they a lost cause?

Thanks,
Bob

They are toast, literally.  Scroll a little ways down on this link and you’ll see why.

Hey Bob - When I am building a new baffle, I find myself constantly removing my driver (Hawthorne Coaxial) from the "operational" baffle to test fit it into the baffle I'm building. I worry that one of these days I'm going to damage my driver with all this constant handling. I'm sure other guys find themselves in the same situation. I'd love to have an identical NONoperational Hawthorne driver for the baffle building stage.
Some of the Fostex fellows (or yourself?) might want your drivers simply for that purpose.
I'm sure this is the last thing you wanted to hear, but you might be able to put them into use that way. Maybe even make a buck or two for them.

Just an idea.
