Restoring Klipsch Heresy's
« on: 5 Mar 2007, 03:41 am »
Took some plain Jane black Klipsch Heresy II's and refinished them.

Sanded them down and to my surprise one had a beautiful walnut veneer. Sanded and finished with 6 coats of Tung oil.

The second speaker I re-veneered it with Bubinga.

Liked veneering so much I bought two Heresy I beaters. These would look great in Bubinga. So I will have 3 Bubinga Heresy's which should work for an all Heresy home theater.

Might use the Walnut Heresy for my center channel. Will have a shootout with my KLF-C7.

My home theater consists of K-horns with a KLF-C7 in the front with Klipsch LaScala's in the rear. I am also using an SVS PB12-plus/2 sub. Second system consists of Cornwall's. Don't need the Heresy's. Just took the project on to pass these speakers on to friends with money.

Finished. Sound terrific. Used the Chesky demo CD to test them. A-B comparison with Cornwall's...they hold their own well. Man, they sound good aa .

Wow those looks really good!

I have a pair of vintage Dahlquist M905 that I want to restore.  I don't know how to veneer so I would probably sand it down and re-coat.

Thanks for sharing.

Those Bubinga Heresies look SEXY.  Nice job.

There seems to be another person who does Klipsch rebuilt and re veneering professionally selling some K-Horns out of Maine.  His link in Audiogon shows some fine, very fine craftsmanship.

Hi Levi:

Do you have an upgraded Klipsch?  I am curious.  Those components look nifty. :thumb:

Thanks Paul.  I decided to upgrade the crossover network awhile back.  It refined the highs which is a little forward with those Traktix horns.

Very fine job of refinishing, nice skills on display! That's some of the nicest bubinga veneer I've seen. Was it a paper backed veneer?

Very impressed with your work.  I don't see any gaps in the seams.  You must be pro at this sort of thing.  Got any tips?
