while I can hear what I am missing by not having the upgraded version

Love my 40s, all for VMPS positive reviews, but comments like this kinda compromise credibility.  It's an educated guess at best.

Actually, that's my fault.

The reviewer asked me what he was missing not having the upgrades, and I told him.  It remains to be seen if Power of Suggestion works as advertised.

My experience is that the Bolder wire makes the sound more forward and "etched" (in a good way, of course), and the two cap upgrades make the sound both smoother and more detailed than the standard Erse polyprops.  The reviewer has the OXO which in my opinion contributes more than the caps and wire combined to the system's excellent definition and detail.

So you can spend $3950pr or add up to another $2600 on deluxe veneers and finishes, TRT's, and Bolder Nitro.

I sent the base model (satin black mls, OXO) to emphasize the value represented by the RM 30C's in today's marketplace.

Brian, Congrat's :drums:Hope the review helps to get you, where you wanna go. :thumb:Funny how MOST audiophools are so yuppified :duh:heh heh heh

Brian,

Congrat's=Great Job on the speakers

Hope the review helps to get you, where you wanna go=hope you get the attention YOU deserve by putting out a great product, and hope you make some $$$$.

Funny how MOST audiophool's are so yuppified=When you make a great product, and sell for a reasonable price, you are not gonna get the YUPPIE market who spend $$$ for a well advertised name, ie: B&W, Wilson, ET. who mark up their speakers to the stratosphere.

Good luck, and keep up the good work,

I hope my earlier post makes more cent$ now :duh:

Thanks John.  How did the "Meistersinger" go?

(Hint: John sang Kothner in the Met production this week).

I was surprised to read the Meistersinger comments, I'm in the chorus of the production at the Met right now.  That makes at least two VMPS owners at the Metropolitan Opera.

Hi Aaron,

Glad to know you still have your speakers, and interesting to know that you too are at the MET.

Regarding your question about upgrading.... Maybe someone at the Met would like your 626R's and it would work better to get you a new pair. (then we'd have three VMPS'ers at the Met)

While adding upgrades can be fun for a DIY'er, if you add in the shipping back and forth, it is many times better to Sell to an entry level VMPS'er and "start fresh", especially since you are considering the MLS cabinet.

Hi John-
Thanks for the reply.  I don't want to hijack this thread, but since you replied to my post here, I thought I should write you back here as well.  I would like to upgrade my 626's, the MLS cabinet was a thought, but I'm not sure if it's a cost effective upgrade, as you pointed out.  Perhaps some Blackhole 5 and some lambswool, and DIY bearded stand would do some good for a minimum investment at the moment.

As far as selling the speakers to someone else at the Met, I don't know if I would be able to single handedly convert someone to audiophilia, there aren't many musicians with the disease.
