Finally tried the 12BH7 in Cornet

At first I was impressed with added dynamics and sense of air but further listening revealed a very subtle treble distortion especially on female voice. Back to the Philips-Amperex ECC82.

One of my RCA 12AX7's became microphonic and I replaced both with the Tung-sol new issue that I had previously tried with a Telefunken ECC82. Better and better with the Philips. The Tung-sols will stay in.

Love the way the Cornet easily reveals that sort of thing and really looking forward to the new Cornet/Piccolo and a soon-to-be-acquired Benz Micro Ace Low.

Bill,
Did you adjust CCS for 12BH7? I think it would not work well with 5..6ma current. It needs at least 10...15ma.
Also it draws twice the heater current of 12AU7, so did you adjust heater resistor to make sure all tubes still get 6.3VDC?
Let me know.
