Was going to list my VMPS Super Tower at Audiogon but saw a whole bunch of people selling their VMPS.

People buy and change gear constantly, uh... hmm. I'm probably guilty of that as well.  It just means other people can great a good deal on slightly used gear.  

However, whatever I put up for sale on audiogon, I always seem to draw deadbeats or lowballers with attitude.

Seems many of those ads are for older VMPS (probably owners who want to move up to ribbons and FST)

A couple of them are from a guy who purchased a complete system and decided to change his color scheme.  But he ran two ads instead of one.

I don't think VMPS has "lost any steam", and with some of the new developments on the horizon, is should actually become even more prominent in the near future.

Speaking of Norh, I heard the 9s again the other day in my system and I have to say they are "very impressive" speakers.  They are definately a player in the $1000-$2000 category.

We played them against the 626Rs, and while they didn't do everything the 626s did, they did really sound fantastic.

John, actually it was a pair of nOrh mini-9's that I brought over.

The 9 is a much larger speaker made of real marble that sells for twice the price.  

I would agree that the mini-9 is a strong competitor in that price range.

Also, let me publicly thank John for letting me audition the VMPS speakers at his place.

Too bad there are no low-priced used RM 2's in light oak with the FST selling in the L.A. area.

John, actually it was a pair of nOrh mini-9's that I brought over.

I should have remembered that, although I am not familiar with the total nOrh line.

In any event, it was an impressive speaker.  I found it very sweet and the bass on the one BASS cut I use was also very impressive.

I remember you asking if I still had the SUB on.  It was not

I was happy to read your favorable comments on the mini 9.0, particulalry as you are very familiar with VMPS speakers.  I have heard the mini 9 several times and agree they can sound terrific.  In fact, I think they are a better value than the 9.0 since they do put out suprisingly good bass.

Yeah, I love a good speaker and these certainly sounded good.

Although I just did a little listening in the sweet spot, I was admirably impressed.  I think they are great contenders in the $1200-$1800 category.

No wonder they have been so popular.  I'd like to hear them beside the REF Ones.  They had similar properties, although I think the Refs might be more detailed and the nOrh a bit sweeter.

I agree, I think 5 mini-9.0's and a VMPS larger sub would be a GREAT HT setup, particularly when the very even and wide dispersion that the Norh speakers put out.  Mine were all going to waste in my small HT room, so I sold them and downgraded signifigantly to the axiom m22's and m2i's.  Actually, the Axioms are all I really need, since I don't put much priority on my HT sound.  Just means more $$ to spend on my 2 channel setup
