Actually I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Rega P3....already have a sleu of upgrades sitting around ready for it. I haven't figured out a cart that I want to run yet, any suggestions for a rock fanatic?

I encourage you to think about the Dynavector 10X4mk II cartridge on the Rega arm. A match made in heaven. I have this combination on my Nottingham Interspace and really sound great.

This cartridge sounds great with all kinds of music, and really ROCKS!

I've been very happy with my Grado reference platinum, never used it on
a Rega though but the sound is warm & sweet. And as far as rock, Classic Records new Led Zep reissues sound great with this cartridge.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the biggest difficulty in choosing a cart is, unlike with other components, it is very difficult to audition many in your system to know what is best. I had thought about getting the low compliance low output Denon 103d, because I had heard a lot of good things about it but it seems that there is a cult that loves it and then there are everyone else.

The Dynavector and the Benz Micro Glider II were on my top radar screen. But only because of reviews, not from listening myself. I haven't heard the Platinum Grado but I was not a big fan of the other Grado's I heard. I don't want my cart to by an eq for my system, I love the sound of my system so I just want an open detailed full and neutral sound. Still leaning towards Dynavector. Should I set my sights on the 10x4 or venture into one of their lower output or higher priced carts? I really would prefer to stay under $800 but $400 is better.

I think that the path of Low Output carts is a serious upgrade path for most. I would hazard that most people don't have suitable MC phono pres for these carts and buying one would imply an upgrade there.

I opted for a DV20XH instead and keep my good sounding MM phono pre. I am waiting for my WallyTractor to come before mounting the cart and giving it a spin.

Oddly, just 20 minutes ago I put in my order to my dealer for a 20h as well. I can start there and if later down the road I wanna go low output I can do so.

If you have not already check out the classisc record release of Jimi Hendrix "Axis bold as Love" mono pressing. It's incredible sounding.

I heard that record is really hard to find. I have a buddy who has it and has promised to bring it over and spin it on my system but hasn't gotten around to it yet.

The original is definitely a hard to find record. The new Classic Records repress is what I've got.
