I think Klaus said to me that it can safely handle things down to 0.5mv or so. If it has 60db gain, it should handle a bit lower than that with relative ease.
As it's solid state, there are a lot less noise issues with it as you turn up the volume (compared to tubes). Probably more important than the gain itself on the Tempest Extreme is the correct input impedance to make your Denon 103 sing....I've read the trick is to load it at 100 ohms. But, based on internal DC resistance, I'd think it best at about 300-400 ohms (10x internal resistance is typically about right)
The Klaus-man would know all this if your manual doesn't state it.
