Would it be possible to use a Mac Mini with an RME ADI-2?

I have no experience with Macs at all, but I am really attracted to the idea of the simple, quiet, compact Mac Mini for computer audio. I would like to continue to use the RME audio interface as well, since my previous experience with RME soundcards is what got me interested in computer audio in the first place, both in recording and playback.

Any suggestions here?

I don't know, but I would love to hear how you go with it! Is that a Firewire device? Could you post a link?

[Edit: Clarification -- I use a Mac mini at home for my "desktop" machine. Have never tried external sound units with it though]

Well, AFAIK it's not a firewire or USB device...but here is the link from the RME site for the ADI-2:

I think the (much more expensive) Fireface is firewire device, but that is practically a recording studio interface and WAY overkill for my intended application.

Is it true that the headphone output on the Mac Mini is really a Toslink digital optical output? If so, then I would purchase this cable to connect the Mac Mini to the ADI-2.http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/xpresscable/
