Cleaning out the shop. Here's your chance to get fully assembled CONSTRUCTOR series units for pennies on the dollar. Who knows how cheap the final price might be. Maybe you can get the whole set.

Ok, before anyone panics, I'm just cleaning out the lab. I'm reducing my manufacturing workload by discontinuing the assembled versions of the CORNET2, CLARINET, CHIME, and CYMBAL. These will continue to be sold as half-kits for DIYers.
I need to make room for new products. Filling the void will be the new CORNET MC. This is a lower cost CORNET but with a PICCOLO headamp installed. Maybe some other upgrades? Factory-direct pricing is expected to be $1000. That's for a classic tube phono with MC capability, 3 gain settings, and 6 cartridge loading settings. It will be perhaps the best performance/dollar tube phono you can buy.
I am also continuing the assembled CHIME GOLD. This is the same great CHIME circuit but fitted inside a much fancier chassis. The BUGLE PRO is being replaced by the new ARCHIVER. The FRYKLEANER PRO is being replaced by the FRYKLEANER GOLD. The TRUMPET will be replaced by the RGP under the HagLabs (
www.haglabs.com
) banner.
So really, this is nothing more than a fine-tuning of the product line. Frees up some money and time so I can better focus on introducing the new products. And at the same time continue to service the DIY community.

Will the CORNET/PICCOLO come in half kit as well?

PICCOLO will be a half-kit for sure. In fact, proto PCBs just showed up this afternoon. Only issue is that the 2SK389 are a pain to get. But I can buy them in bulk. So I will probably include them with the raw PCB. That pushes the half-kit price up to maybe $59 or $69.
CORNET2 is still half-kit, but you have to build it with a PICCOLO externally to get MC gain. The problem is that I routed inputs past the power transformer on the PCB. Had to in order for connections to be on back. With low impedance loading (anything but 47k) you get magnetic coupling and a hum. Only chance is to build it into a different chassis with connectors out the front. Like the original CORNET. Or remote the tranny far away. But even if you have to build the two in separate boxes, it only costs about $20 more and you have more system flexibility.

Can anyone report what the Clarinet auction ended up at on Audiogon tonight? I was watching that one earlier, then completely spaced it.
Thanks.
