I  got the new DVD of the last show performed by the great Crowded House. They rock harder live than they do in the studio and it's terrific. Was performed on the steps of the Sydney Opera House in front of a huge crowd.

Disc is called "Farewell to the World".

BTW: Neil Finn's "Seven World's Collide" concert DVD is excellent too. Guest appearances by Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder, Lisa Germano, and Tim Finn. Only complaint is Johnny's guitar is mixed too loud.

Crowded House "Farewell to the World"
 It was late last night so here now is a brief review. Out all my rock DVD concerts and I have a lot, I must say this could be one of the best. The sight, the sound, and these 4 guys rip through 24 of their songs (over 2 hours long) with perfection. Neil is joined near the end by good brother Tim and if your are a Crowded house fan, this DVD is also very emotional knowing this is their last concert as Crowded House and the suicide a few years later of the superb drummer Paul Hester. This DVD will keep you on the edge of your seat rock in and singing away. A+++++++++++++

Hey budyog,

sorry I missed your post. I'd been away from the site for awhile. Got distracted by RC helicopters which I've now sold.

I was lucky enough to see the Crowdies in a small club in Cincy right before they broke up. Probably my favorite show of all time. Sheryl Crowe was the opening act, if you can image that. Neil at the 9:30 Club in DC was also special ('02, I think). He even mentions that show in his memoir called 'Once Removed'.

There's another DVD that is good too....Neil's "Sessions at West 54th". Mostly songs from his 'Try Whistling' album. Liam plays guitar and drums and Mark from CH sits in on a few tunes.

I guess you can tell I'm a Neil Finn fan.

 I saw the same show! Not is a small club, but at a very nice theater with Sheryl opening. I saw Neil 5 times now, met him once with my kids, We went during the day and met him before sound check. I think they went to rent-a-junker because they pulled up in a beat up rusty car, Neil got out, we chatted a little and took pictures of him, me and and my kids together. It was great! Met brother Tim once after his show here too! As you can tell, I am and have been a big fan too. I was in a band long ago playing on the road and missed Split Enz when they came here. Darn!

That's cool you got to meet the brothers. I not only think Neil (and Tim) are great songwriters, but they seem to be genuinely nice people. Yeah, I thought Paul was a great drummer.....funny guy too. Damn shame about his death.

I had a drum teacher who was a huge Crowdie fan. After Paul quit.....this guy chased the band down and begged for an audition. They actually let him do it. The thought he played drums fine, but wanted someone who could sing.

Get the memoir if you don't have it. Cool photos too. And I'm a photographer.....so I should know. 

Hey....did you see the brothers on their last tour? (about 1.5 years ago) I saw them Cincy and in a very small club in Louisville. The Cincy show was good....but the one in Louisville was unbelievable. Tim was wound up!

I watching for probably the 100th time....and it still holds up.......
